I’m not really a huge poetry guy, but this short poem that Anamika picked up somewhere along the way on a postcard has always resonated deeply with me…

The story of my life

written in the

sands of time

buried in the

warm dunes

– how many more

caravans will

move on

without noticing

the faint shadow

this ripple creates.

- Satish Gupta

Let me know what you think about it!

The poem is rather depressing. A faint life of a shadow that goes by unnoticed by anyone. Just a tiny ripple created.

I know Mark Anthony says ‘Glory is all good, but really life is enough nay?” That is all and well for those who have had so much glory and are still remembered after centuries.

I don’t want my life to be buried in the warm sands unnoticed, I want to be remembered. I’m sure faced with death or any major catastrophe, I too will feel that life itself is enough, that I am taking for granted every moment. But such is the nature of humans. We can never be happy.
